Situated exactly on the west side of Gilan province, Asalem has a unique location. Here every corner offers a haunting landscape, however, the Asalem-Khalkhal road in attractively outstanding. Traveling from Tehran, you will reach Khalkhal first. To visit KhalKhal, choose the road to Zanjan. It takes about 8 hours to the destination. The path is popular among climbers. A great rest in wooden cabins will let you feel the wealth by taking the trouble to trek all the way up here.
Considered to be of the rarest intact places, Asalem and KhalKhal have pleasantly agreeable climate. You will pass lush plains, foggy forests, roaring waterfalls and verdant pastures on this winding road. There are plenty of signs on your way on the Asalen-Khalkhal road. However, the most haunting one is the Senav village. Far from the cold weather of mountainous areas and humidity of the sea, the climate is agreeable here. But the magic does not end there: plains of flowers and colorful wooden cottages are attractively alluring. Spend a night here and experience the lifestyle of locals. Try their traditional foods and buy their handicrafts. The village is located 25km from Asalem.

Khalkhal is an all-year round destination. However, the best time to travel here is in the spring. During the April and may the fields are flourishing with flowers. Summer is cool here, since the area is located on high mountains. But remember that winter may not be a good choice for traveling to Khal Khal and Asalem due to heavy rains and snows.
Wear your trekking shoes, bring an extra layer and just a small backpack. Bring your sleeping bag and definitely your camera to spend a good night and recording your great memories.
