Sheikh Lotfollah Mosque which is considered as one of the most important mosques of Iran, located in the eastern part of Naqshe Jahan Square and dates back to the Safavid era. This mosque was built under the command of Shah Abbas, by Professor Mohammad Reza Bana Isfahani.

Architecture
You will see a different architectural style of mosque in Sheikh Lotfollah with any courtyard and a circular dome. The color of dome in Sheikh Lotfollah Mosque is Khaki, despite of the other domes in Iran that are turquoise. The decorative features of dark blue in the light background has created a marvelous view.

This mosque includes a 45 degrees rotation that is not visible from the outside. To reach the indoor of the mosque, you should pass two corridors that the second corridor rotates 45 degrees to the right. Then you will enter to a hall with a dome above it. There are 16 windows in the stem of the dome to make bright the inner part of the mosque. One of the fabulous features in the inner part of the mosque is coming the natural light through the wooden lattice-shaped of the windows. Moreover, the tiles, tablets, and poems used in the Mihrab of Sheikh Lotfollah Mosque will amaze your eyes.

Getting there?
Sheikh Lotfollah Mosque is placed on eastern side of Naqsh-e Jahan Square. It is possible, to reach Naqsh-e Jahan Square via public transportation as follows:
- Bus: To reach Naqsh-e Jahan Square, you should use the buses on the square of Imam Hussain - the Ghadir Gardens of the East Terminal, or Imam Hussain Square - use the Hasht Behesht of the Khorasgan Terminal and get off at the Imam Square Station.
- Metro: Imam Hossein Square is the nearest station to the square. You can take a taxi and get to the Naqsh-e Jahan Square.
