Sabalan Climbing (7 Days)

Sabalan mountain, with an elevation of 4,811 meters, is the third highest peak in Iran after Damavand mountain and Alam Kuh. Sabalan mountain lake is another attraction of this wonderful mountain. The lake is 15 meters deep and is created in the volcano hole. The Sabalan mountain weather is best from june to september. You can both camp and stay in shelters but for camping, warm clothes and tents are needed. On the way climbing to the peak you can see beautiful hot mineral spas and spectacular nature of Ardabil province.

Sabalan Climbing and Trekking in Iran

  Day 1


Arrive in Tehran. Welcoming by our representative who holds the sign of your name. Transfer to the hotel and take rest.

  Day 2


Half day Tehran city tour and meet in the afternoon to prepare for the next day’s departure for Iran’s second highest peak of Mt Sabalan.

  Day 3


After breakfast depart for Mehrabad Domestic Airport for a short flight to the historic city of Ardabil where we drive to the hot spring village of Shabil for the night. (B, L, D) the altitude (3548m).


  Day 4


The climb starts in the morning going past GhotourSoei and ShirvanDareh up to the shelter where we spend the night. The rest of the day is used to acclimatize to the altitude. (B, L, D)

  Day 5


Sabalan Peak (4811) / Mount Sabalan Shelter – The day is spent climbing to the peak, stopping along the way to enjoy the scenery surrounding this large dormant volcano. Return refuge and go swimming in the hot water pools in Shabil-Driving back to Ardabil and take rest.

  Day 6


Hulf day Ardabil city tour including: Sheykh-Safi Khanghah (One of Iranian UNESCO sites) and, flight back to Tehran.

  Day 7


Tehran and Depart – After breakfast you are free to depart anytime.


Note: For experienced climbers the Mt Sabalan ascent can be made in a shorter period a time eliminating the need to overnight at the Mount Sabalan Shelter.
