Once the astounding capital of Iran, Isfahan is Iran’s jewel; one of the top tourist’s attractions reflecting the priceless gem of Persian art and architecture. Here you will experience a time travel taking a trip through the 17th century when the Safavid ruler, Shah Abbas the Great, laid out a 500m long and 160m wide Naqsh-e Jahan to signal the importance of the city as the capital of his empire: an empire from which there remains so many reminiscent including the harmoniously decorated Sheikh Lotfollah mosque signature with blue-and-turquoise tiles; the elegant and perfectly proportioned and visually stunning Shah (Imam) mosque; the Chehel Sotun, a residence used as a pleasure pavilion; the grand Bazar, a covered market linking Naqsh-e Jahan with Jame mosque- itself the best achievement of the 9th century artistic endeavor; and last but not least, the gem of Armenian neighborhood of Jolfa, the Vank church decorated with wonderfully restored wall paintings.
