Located on a high plateau between Mt. Sahand and Lake Orumiyeh, east Azerbaijan, Tabriz is one of the biggest cities in Iran. Tabriz’s significance in terms of historical heritages is nowhere more evident than in its thriving Bazaar complex. Once an important commercial center on the silk road, the Bazaar is now a UNESCO-recognized cultural heritage. Still, there are more to visit in Tabriz: the constitution house, used as a headquarter during constitutional revolution; the blue mosque, famous for its intricate turquoise mosaics; Azarbaijan museum, where old objects symbolizing wealth carried by provincial treasure are at display; poet’s mausoleum, a complex commemorating more than 400 scholars; and last but not least, Elgoli park, with its artificial lake, summer stroller and a reconstruction of a Qajar-era palace.
